Position Description Document
The City of Soldotna has an opening for a regular full time Planning / GIS Technician in the Planning and Zoning Department. This position is responsible for ongoing operation of the City Geographic Information System (GIS), and for enforcement of City zoning, public nuisance, and land use ordinances. Assists in performing other duties of the Planning department. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Economic Development and Planning.

The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) is recruiting applicants for a GIS Analyst III position in our main office located in Fairbanks, Alaska. We need a motivated, efficient, and productive individual with strong GIS skills, demonstrated proficiency with ESRI’s ArcGIS software, and the ability to contribute and thrive in a team-based work culture, to serve as our division’s primary GIS data manager. The staff comprises mainly highly educated field geologists and research geoscientists who collect, analyze, and disseminate information about Alaska’s land and its potential to produce metals, minerals, fuels, geothermal resources, and construction materials. They also investigate potential geologic hazards to buildings, roads, bridges, and other structures.
