HDR Alaska Inc. is seeking an mid career-level GIS Analyst with practical ESRI GIS software and spatial analysis experience. Duties include working in a professional environment with a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental sciences consulting firm where GIS is used extensively. Work is performed for a wide variety of clients in Alaska including natural resources, environmental science, permitting, planning and engineering. A strong ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, both technical and non-technical is required. A diverse background in geospatial science, strong analytical skills, and experience supporting GIS activities in large organizations are valued attributes for this position. Knowledge of and experience with Alaska datasets is preferred. Desired skill areas include geographic principles, cartography, geoprocessing and spatial analysis, database management, mobile data collection, CAD integration, cadastral data and ArcGIS for Server technology.
BS or equivalent in Geography, Natural Sciences, Planning, Engineering or related field. 2 years professional GIS experience preferred. Strong cartographic, spatial analysis and ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 skills required; additional specialized software experience is helpful. Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are required.
