The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas is recruiting for a full-time permanent Analyst/Programmer IV to lead the Division’s Geographic Information System (GIS) team. The position is a working manager who will be involved in active development, direct and train staff in developing and maintaining our ESRI ArcGIS environment, .NET and web mapping applications and GIS automation strategies. The position is located in the Division's offices on the 8th floor of the Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage. This position independently plans, directs, and maintains the design and implementation of our GIS systems using ESRI Arc GIS Server & ArcSDE technologies and other up and coming GIS industry solutions. As the lead GIS programmer, the position supports complex programming projects critical to Oil and Gas lease sales, resource evaluation, permitting and other land management programs while working closely with Division’s IT team.

URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented GIS Analyst for immediate employment for the Anchorage, Alaska office. the successful candidate will be responsible for cross-discipline support associated with environmental and regulatory work.

Incumbent responsibilities:
Work with internal and external clients to develop GIS data and map products per project and client guidelines
Gather, develop, and synthesize geospatial information from multiple sources and projection/coordinate systems
Create, analyze, report, convert or transfer data using GIS software
Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality or completeness of documentation and metadata
Possess strong attention to detail and aptitude for quality assurance
Responsible for completion of GIS metadata following client and/or corporate standards
Participate in business development tasks such as proposal writing and marketing as needed
Organize and present tabular data supporting electronic map data
Collect field data and support/troubleshoot GPS for field crews
Perform post-processing of GPS data using base stations and Differential GPS (DGPS) techniques
Provide QA/QC review of GPS and GIS datasets
Provide technical consultation in geographic information sciences to internal staff as well as external clients
Participate in training and other professional development activities to maintain excellence in GIS technology
May require travel to remote field locations
