The incumbent of this position works in the GIS/Data Management office of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The position is part of a team that supports the GIS and Natural Resource data management needs of the park. The position involves integrating a variety of data and information about diverse natural resources and documenting project data sets. The incumbent will use a variety of computer programs and procedures to assemble, document, and share data created by Great Smoky Mountain National Parks Natural Resources Inventory and Monitoring Program. The position requires the incumbent to be innovative, versatile, and creatively solve problems while adhering to data standards and guidelines, Collects and organizes natural resource data from principal investigators, ecologists and natural resource specialists. By working closely with principal investigators, coordinates and facilitates the process of developing finished products (databases, spreadsheets, reports, analyses, maps, geospatial coverage) from raw or draft data sets. Performs quality assurance checks on completed products, and updates data formats to program standards. Utilizes a variety of computer programs to compile, reduce, store, retrieve, analyze, and report data and other resource management information, including research and long-term monitoring projects. Maintains and organizes computer databases.
