Forest Health Assessment and Applied Sciences Team (FHAAST), our client, is responsible for performing quantitative analyses for a number of programs including internal support to the GIS and Spatial Analysis, Remote Sensing, and Invasive Species Risk Assessment Programs. Quantitative analysis also provides support to the FHP Washington Office.

We are seeking an experienced GIS Developer/Analyst to design, develop and maintain GIS software tools and systems.

  • Design, develop & implement solutions using ESRI's ArcGIS suite: ArcGIS Service, ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS portal.
  • Maintain GIS software tools and applications including but not limited to; ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Accounts, ArcGIS Server and applications of MS SQL and Office Suite.
  • Performs complex geospatial data maintenance, manipulation, extraction and analysis.
  • Designs, implements, and tests configuration changes in software such as ESRI and Microsoft and custom software developed by Cherokee Nation Technologies (CNT), subcontractors, and U.S. Forest Service Forest Health Assessment and Applied Sciences Team (FHAAST) to meet end user business requirements and ensure effective operation.
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves geospatial applications including GIS and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) problems including mobile systems; communicates with internal and external technical resources to resolve end user issues; provides guidance to users on methods for correcting reported problems.
  • Performs quality assurance and quality control of geospatial data and ensures data meet data standards and formats Maintains web-based applications and data in support of FHAAST.
  • Analyzes requests for new applications, programs and modifications to existing geospatial programs; analyzes and documents user work processes and systems functionality requirements; analyzes current geospatial system functions, procedures and capabilities to determine if improved methods are possible; develops and presents proposals for new approaches and options to meet user needs; participates in requirements gathering, work flow analysis and system implementation, testing and training.
  • Coordinates and conducts user applications training classes; develops training materials and manuals; responds to and resolves user inquiries; develops and maintains user documentation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, computer science, or other related field or equivalent formal education and job-related experience to include: Possess specialized, in depth-knowledge and experience with ESRI products and the area of GIS.
  • Or A Bachelor’s Degree in geosciences, geography, geographic information systems, ability to use and maintain GIS software and applications including but not limited to ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Accounts, ArcGIS Server and applications of MS SQL and Office Suite.
  • Five years or more of progressively responsible experience in the design, development, maintenance and support of GIS systems and applications. Knowledge of ArcGIS Server and AGOL administration required.
  • Experience and proficiency with Application Development using Python, JavaScript, HTMLS, CSS, REST APIs, Map/Web Services, GIS/Geospatial processing tasks, ArcSDE, ArcServer, ArcObjects, SQL, Java.
  • Experience customizing/extending GIS web applications using Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS.
  • Experience using ArcGIS for Server geoprocessing services, including developing Python scripts.
  • Analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives and make sound independent decisions within established guidelines.
  • Train others in the use of GIS applications.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with project teams including user representatives and outside resources and others encountered in the course of work.
