The Alaska Hydrography Database (AK Hydro) is a statewide collaborative stewardship model used to generate hydrography updates for the NHD and implement local attributes standards that are critical to Alaska (ie. fish habitat, channel classification). The AK Hydro stewardship model is coordinated through ACCS with numerous federal, state, academic, non-profit, tribal and local agency partners.

The incumbent will support the mission of ACCS in the collection, management and validation of data with a special focus on Alaska Hydrography Updates in the Landscape Ecology Program.

Duties Include:
  • Manage support and maintenance of AK Hydro IT infrastructure with technology partners. Manage AK Hydro's ArcGIS Server and coordinate spatial database replication with partners. Work directly with editors/partners to address and follow up on issues with the data or workflow. Address and fix AK Hydro Data conflict resolutions. Address and support anything that is of immediate concern in the database or data.
  • Ad Hoc AK Hydro support to assist the Coordinator and Technical Steward with hydrography edits, updates, conflation and coordination with partner agencies. Provide updates the AK Hydro website with updated hydrography data, web map services and status updates as needed.
  • Provide support for AK Hydro documentation including writing, formatting and editing technical and user documentation. Answering user questions and queries pertaining to workflow. Yearly database service window maintenance and support, including database schema updates, coordinating with partners to meet local and statewide data needs. Data Analysis and Reporting: Performs quality assurance and quality control on spatial and tabular data. Enters data into a relational database (eg. Microsoft Access or Excel) and SDE database (Microsoft SQL Server). Manipulates data to produce tabular products for reports. Organizes and manipulates spatial data in ArcGIS. Produces maps and other spatial products for projects, presentations, and publications. Assists supervisors with editing reports and publications.
