Summary
NOAA/Office for Coastal Management (OCM) is recruiting for a Physical Scientist to serve as the Regional Geospatial Coordinator in Alaska. This is a new federal position and the duty station is Anchorage, AK. NOAA's Office for Coastal Management is excited to build out their in-State presence and geospatial data and tools capacity to better serve Alaska constituencies.

Tasks/Duties
As a Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties:
  • Coordinate and collaborate with federal, state, local, and tribal partners to maximize the impact of geospatial activities in the region and provide data, tools, technical assistance, and training required to meet the needs of coastal management professionals.
  • Provide geospatial technical expertise, develop technical guidance, lead quality assurance and geospatial data analysis, lead the technical project life cycle, and identify and coordinate funding sources for cost-sharing collaborations to acquire geospatial data and services.
  • Identify opportunities and represent the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) geospatial products and services in political engagements and provide expert analysis and interpretation of NOAA impact. Establish effective relationships with partners on data and decision-support product and service development, improvement, and maintenance as appropriate.
  • Lead communication efforts to inform and engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding NOAA geospatial initiatives and projects. Provide regionally specific knowledge and subject matter expertise to project teams and actively participate in data development, quality assurance, and technical assistance activities.
