Topic:
NOAA's newest Digital Elevation Model: Bluetopo

BlueTopo is a curated compilation of the nation’s best available bathymetric data, providing a definitive nationwide model of the seafloor. This recently released resource supports coastal ecosystem simulations, habitat identification, and oceanographic forecasting. I will discuss how to access BlueTopo and other relevant NOAA GIS datasets.

LCDR Caroline Wilkinson serves as the Alaska Navigation Manager for NOAA's Office of Coast Survey. In this role, she helps to determine mapping priorities for the state of Alaska and works to ensure updated nautical charts. 62% of Alaskan waters are currently unmapped, but she is working every day to lower that number.
